5 ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day regardless of your relationship status

Why should Valentine’s celebrations be limited to the coupled up? Here are our favourite ways to spend your Valentine’s day regardless of your relationship status.

Jessica Pilon-Summons

As February the 14th approaches, we asked how the Uber Carshare team how they like to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Nothing like expressing your passion through paint! I like to host a paint and sip night. You can throw your own or let a professional like Pinot & Picasso guide you. The best thing is paint and sips are fun in a group or with your significant other.

Head to the movies

My partner Ric and I love to head to the movies but to make it extra special we’d recommend heading to a drive-in Cinema. We love anything Superhero based but the choice of movie is really up to you! Our favourite drive-in cinema is the Skyline Drive-in Cinema in Blacktown.

Celebrate in your own time

My partner and I aren’t really big on Valentine’s Day. But we do like to celebrate. We make a point to avoid the crowds and go to dinner the day after Valentine’s Day. That way we still get to have a romantic evening, minus the pressure of getting a booking. Pro tip - novelty Valentine’s chocolates often go on sale after Valentine’s and are still just as delicious!

Shake it up

My suggestion for Valentine’s Day would be to take a cocktail class with some friends at a local bar.  Li’l Darlin in Surry Hills has some great classes and their cocktails are delicious.

Get out of town

I am a big fan of any excuse to get out of town and head to the coast. My favourite way to spend Valentine’s is a weekend away with friends (sometimes I even let my boyfriend come too). We usually rent a place near the beach that allows dogs, so that our furry friends can also tag along for the adventure. I love to organise themed parties, so usually on one of the nights, we’ll have a Galentine’s party and exchange humorous gifts.
